Mayo Creative Studios and Consultancy
Mayo Creative Studios and Consultancy formerly known as Mayo Ortiz Music Studio was founded in April 2017 by Mary Anne “Mayo” Ortiz. It started as a small private music studio in Dumaguete City, Philippines, with only 5 students. It later expanded and had a satellite studio in Dapitan City, a 4-hour boat ride away from Dumaguete City.
Mayo was the only music instructor at that time, so she was patiently but passionately traveling from island to island. When she moved back to Luzon in 2018, she continued giving choral workshops to church choirs and doing private music teaching. When the pandemic hit in 2020, she realized that there was a need for people to connect through the arts other platform types, so she shifted to fully conducting music lessons online.
The studio had students of different ages ranging from 3 to 73 years old from around the world –the US, Europe, Australia, and parts of Asia. It was always her students’ joy and enthusiasm to learn and express themselves that inspired her to keep going up to this day. Whether the lessons are conducted face-to-face or online, one thing is for sure - music and the creative arts heal, connect and nurture people.
